Benefits of Whole House Water Filters

There are many benefits to having a water purification systems installed, here are just a few:

Extends the Life of Water-Using Appliances

With the installation of a whole house water filter, any water-using appliances will last much longer. The minerals in water can build up over time and cause issues with your plumbing system. With filtered water flowing through the pipes, the lifespan of your plumbing system will grow as the filter works to remove minerals and lime scale caused by hard water.

Healthier Showers and Baths

With the chlorine and chloramines that have been removed or significantly reduces, your shower and baths will become healthier. Chlorine that's in your bath or shower's water supply can cause painful headaches, dizziness, reddened eyes, and is a known carcinogen. When chlorinated water is heated, it can also reduce harmful gases that can be dangerous for your health.

Fewer Deposits on Clothes and Less Soap Scum

Unclean and unfiltered tap water will leave deposits on clothes, causing them to smell and can lead to rashes and/or allergies. In addition, unfiltered water can cause major soap scum buildup on your clothes, bathroom, dishes, and more. With a water purification system, you’ll experience less soap scum and better-smelling clothes.

Frequently Asked Questions Whole House Filters

What is a whole house water filter?

A whole house filter connects to the main water line entering the home – every faucet, toilet, shower, bath, kitchen, and laundry connection – dispenses filtered water.

What types of whole house filters are there?

There are a variety of whole house filters, and each one will depend on what you are trying to accomplish. Our manufacturer carries many different types of whole house filters. These filters can remove sediment, dirt, rust particles, chlorine, cysts, VOC’s, iron, hydrogen sulfide, certain heavy metals, and a wide range of contaminants responsible for bad taste and odors in residential water supplies.

What are the most common whole house filters?

The most common are carbon filters which remove chlorine and synthetic chemicals and organic compounds. The prices that we show are for our carbon block filters on our single canisters and carbon block & pre-filter on our double canisters.

Are whole house filters and water softeners the same?

NO – water softeners remove hardness minerals and use salt whereas whole house water filters remove a broader range of contaminants.

Do customers ever own a water softener and a whole house filter?

Yes – a lot of our customers do own both. Some water softeners have carbon built into them, and they are referred to as water conditioners. The problem with this is that the carbon only lasts for some time and then needs to be replaced which can become costly- typically a plumber usually does this. By separating the carbon from the softener as we do, it becomes more cost effective to maintain even to the point where the customer can change their own filters.

How do I know what size whole house water filter that I need?

That will depend on what you are trying to remove from the water, the amount of contaminants in the water and how many gallons of water you use in a year. One of our most popular whole house filters is our 2.5 x 20 carbon block because of its low cost to maintain. The average filter life for a family of four is one year.

Why should we want to buy from your company?

First, we have been awarded “Best in Cincinnati” for three straight years. We have an A+ rating with the BBB and Angie’s List, and we have over 38 years of experience in the water treatment industry. That doesn’t happen by chance.

Second, if you compare our price and quality with those companies in the yellow pages, we beat them hands down. Why? As a wholesale dealer, they can’t compete with our prices because of their high overhead and commissioned sales reps. If you compare our prices with Home Depot or Lowes, our prices are very much the same, but our quality is a lot better. We use only the highest quality heavy duty filter housing with large diameter inlet and outlet for less pressure drop and better flow. Our entire whole house filters are made from materials that are NSF – approved for drinking water application.
